Lori's patient was asleep when she was taken for a diagnostic test. After waking up in a strange area, the patient became agitated and didn't want to return to her room. "Lori spoke to the patient compassionately, reinforced the rapport she had already built and convinced the patient to hold her hand as we took her back to her room," the nomination said. Once the patient was back in her room, Lori and another nurse even sang to the patient to help calm her. "After night shift had left, the patient remarked, 'Bring that music back — I liked it!'" the nomination said.
