The patient eventually was able to be admitted to the unit and he instantly inquired as to if Lori was working so he could thank her for her compassion and caring during such a traumatic point in his life.
Lori has always been a compassionate caring nurse. The other night she really went the extra mile for a patient. Lori was working the night shift and answered the phone when it rang. On the line was a former patient, and he was obviously in distress. To summarize the patient was panicked, intoxicated, and suicidal. Lori was able to alert another coworker while she kept the distressed patient on the line. Another 6A RN was able to locate information to locate his significant other and alert them. Lori remained on the line with the patient, reassuring him and occupying him until help arrived. The patient eventually was able to be admitted to the unit and he instantly inquired as to if Lori was working so he could thank her for her compassion and caring during such a traumatic point in his life.
