In addition to taking care of his medical issues, she also went about meeting his needs to keep him comfortable by providing warm blankets and consoling a man who thought he was at the end of his life.
My father was recently taken by ambulance to Mercy Health Hospital. He is 91 years old and was having heart related issues and pneumonia. My sister and I arrived shortly after my dad came in the emergency room. My mother, being age 89 and blind, was unable to come with us for other ailments. Lori was my father’s nurse from 7:30A to 7:30P that day. She went about confidently doing what she needed to respond to Dad’s breathing difficulty and irregular heart rhythm. In addition to taking care of his medical issues, she also went about meeting his needs to keep him comfortable by providing warm blankets and consoling a man who thought he was at the end of his life. Lori also shared information with my sister and I and even saw to us getting some most needed coffee due to being up since 4:30A. Later in the morning she was asked to work on the second floor where my dad was admitted. While in his room, she again took great care of him. She provided warm blankets and lotion for back aches and stayed in touch with his doctor, requesting medicine for pain that was appropriate for him. Her caring, bubbly, compassionate, funny sense of humor was exactly what everyone needed. We witnessed this nurse work a 12-hour shift tirelessly, responsibly, and lovingly. What a role model for other nurses! When my mother was able to come and see my father, she was so sweet to her as well. Lori is an exemplary nurse, and Mercy Hospital is fortunate to have her on its staff, as we were fortunate to have her care for our father. Everyone taking care of his needs are commended for outstanding care (doctors, nurses, phlebotomist, assistants, x-ray technicians, etc.). Thank you and God Bless you all!
