She "guards" our son with a dedicated vigil for his recovery. D came thru ER to ICU and she cared for him when he was so critically ill. He had 9-10 monitors on him and 9 or so IVs. She never missed one detail. She checked the work of others ever so smoothly so as not to discourage but to ensure her patient's needs. An example is a CNA who tried twice to have the hand restraint tied correctly. After the helper left the room, Lori went to that side and adjusted it until it was right. No reprimands, she knew the girl would eventually catch on. Sense of humor is divine! A ready smile, warm but firm, and an interested in others. Our son looks to her even when other caregivers are near. He knows she knows what's what and either has it right on or will get it right on. He trusts her. She is firm, soft, strong and able all in one. The family relies on her. She's worth her weight in gold. Patients and families are so lucky to have her!
I got a big nod "yes" from our son when I asked, "is she your favorite?" (he is on a ventilator).
