March 2016 Honoree
lori stenseng, RN, BSN
The patient's Mental Health provider ordered an overnight delivery of Lorazepam for the patient. The veteran never received the medication. Lori was the third nurse involved in working on this case and checked the UPS package number with the FHCC Pharmacy and the Kenosha Post Office. The refill sent by regular mail was not delivered as had been reported by the FHCC. The refill was "hung up" in North Carolina due to a glitch at Scheduled Med CMOP. New delivery date was unknown. The veteran was completely out of medication and experiencing anxiety attacks. A seven day supply of medication was ordered by the Kenosha CBOC attending provider but the patient did not have a ride to the CBOC to pick up the prescription. Lori personally dropped off the prescription at the community program pharmacy on her way home from work. The patient's daughter was able to walk to the pharmacy to pick up the medication as it was only a few blocks from their home. This labor intensive effort resulted in the patient being able to receive his medication.
Thank you, Lori, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
