This nurse has been an irreplaceable piece of CentraCare- Long Prairie hospital for many years. She has demonstrated patience and kindness to all staff, taking new staff under her wing and teaching them to be the best they can be. She takes it upon herself to always be personable with her patients, as well as a leader to her staff. One example is when I had to bring my mother into the hospital for tachycardia. My mom was so scared and was lightheaded and did not know what was going on. This nurse proceeded to talk to her and calm her down, she talked about how my mom was a beautician and how this person’s dad built my parents’ house. She had such a special touch to make my mom so comfortable. I witnessed my mother relax on the bed as this nurse held her hand. This nurse has a wonderful touch with all patients not just my mom, but all patients can feel this nurse's compassion and confidence. My mom knew this nurse was very knowledgeable and was so happy this nurse stayed by her side. Now whenever I need to take my mother to the ER, she always says, "I wonder if I will get Lori?" It’s great to live in a small town, with wonderful caring nurses like her, to greet every patient with kindness and compassion. She is respected by the community as well as the staff as a vital part of our hospital. I have never felt uncomfortable reaching out for guidance or bringing concerns to her. She is kind, caring, compassionate, and irreplaceable.
