Lori Verde, Registered Nurse, Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), Fontana Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente is being recognized, with the DAISY AWARD, for the extraordinary nursing care she provides to each and every patient, including patient's that are assigned to her "sister unit".
Lori has been described as a very organized, reliable, and a versatile Registered Nurse, she "always goes above and beyond". She is extremely intelligent and is a quick learner. She has all the qualities of an exceptional Charge Nurse. Lori was nominated for this award by her Manager, after receiving many compliments from the Intensive Care Unit nurses.
In November of 2014, while performing her regular duties, she noticed that a patient in the Intensive Care Unit, went into a rapid Atrial Fibrillation and she was the first to notice this on the monitors. Lori responded on behalf of the 2 North ICU staff and alerted the primary RN. She never left the patient's bedside and was an excellent resource in helping to stabilize the patient and prevent a code situation. She is a classic example of how to build teamwork among two separate departments (sister units). She leads by example and made the patient her priority.
