Recently there was a patient admitted with a service dog to the observation unit. It was decided that the patient needed to spend time in a skilled nursing facility after discharge. He was very concerned about leaving the hospital without a plan for his dog. Lorie arranged a foster for the dog while his owner was in a facility. During the interim, she took the dog home to keep him safe while arranging the foster. Her actions allowed the patient to feel comfortable and safe to go to rehab knowing that his dog would be safe and loved while he was focused on getting better. Lorie went over and above to help this patient get the help he needed.
