Lorie Valentin is the type of nurse you meet once in a lifetime. I had my son in 2016. Everything was going as planned during labor until my baby's heart rate suddenly dropped. It was below 70 bpm, and it was the scariest three minutes of my life. Lorie assembled a small army of nurses, gave me a shot, and completely managed the situation quickly, assertively and with compassion.
Lorie made me look in her eyes during those scary moments and reassured me that she had me, and she wasn't going to let anything happen. I don't remember her exact words, but whatever she said at that moment, I believed her and felt safe and comforted. Lorie has a level of authenticity, knowledge, and compassion that is rare, and amazing. She cares.
Lastly, I had my second baby in 2017. To my surprise, Lorie was once again my main nurse. She remembered everything! Lorie Valentin is what makes HCA different. Lorie is one in a million. I have never met a more deserving award recipient.
