Lorraine honors the human spirit with dignity and respect through the gentle connectedness of loved ones of those who were transferred to a higher level of care.
Lorraine is an Educator for AEHR Optimization. In March 2020, she rose to a new level of clinical excellence and teamwork when she volunteered to redeploy for 6 months to a COVID-19 Care Site to train AEHR use to redeployed clinicians. Extraordinary compassionate care was extended beyond AEHR review when she engaged in direct patient care during emergent situations providing life support, protecting patients from harm at their most frightening moments, and assisting with safe transports to CEMS. Lorraine has an extraordinary ability to help patients remain calm. She was seen one day holding the hand of an elderly man in respiratory distress, teaching him how to breathe with a face mask on. After he was sent out in the ambulance, she took time to comfort the man's wife who was not able to go with her husband of many years. Compassionately, she would personally look up and print Hospital driving directions. She honors the human spirit with dignity and respect through the gentle connectedness of loved ones of those who were transferred to a higher level of care. Lorraine always followed up the next day to see how the patient and family were doing. Lastly, she comforted her team daily knowing the staff and physicians suffered tremendously as they could not comprehend the magnitude of this unprecedented pandemic and its effects. Lorraine was the gentle spirit that lifted everyone's spirits through a very difficult time. She was like the glue that held this Commack site together.
