Not long after being here, I met my night nurse. I didn't know she was going to be the most amazing person in the world. Lorrin came in like this beautiful ball full of energy. She was wide awake and ready to work. Lorrin was extra excited to be at work because it was her I year anniversary at West Florida Hospital. I believe God knew I needed Lorrin that day. She made me feel like I was the only patient on the floor. There wasn't a moment when my ice was low, or I didn't have something to drink. When the time came for my epidural, all my support had to leave the room. I was so scared. Lorrin stood in front of me, gave me so much comfort and made me feel safe. Lorrin showed my daughter so much attention. She made sure my daughter was happy.
I told Lorrin I felt funny and wanted her to check me. Lorrin contacted the charge nurse, who then called the doctor. I started practice pushing and the baby was coming. I was told to stop pushing and wait for the doctor. Lorrin looked me in my eyes and told me she wasn't going anywhere. I trusted her. She calmed me down. Even though Lorrin wasn't my nurse the next day, she visited my room several times. She made sure I had what I needed. It is hard to make a mom feel safe. I just met Lorrin and didn't know her that well. But, I knew my daughter, new baby, and I were safe in her care. West Florida is so lucky to have her. She was called to be a nurse.
