My mother and father were hit by a car in downtown St. Pete while on our way to a Rowdies game. My father was in critical condition and was rushed to the ER by the fire brigade. In the Trauma ICU, Louis took exceptional care of my father and the rest of my family for the three-day shifts we had with him. Being a medical professional Louis knew my dad would succumb to his injuries, but he did not make any mention of this, and he let us keep the faith and hope that we needed. He showed kindness and compassion in a horrific time and provided my whole family comfort despite the circumstances. I witnessed the whole accident and held my father in the road as his blood covered my hands. Despite my mental imagery and trauma, the following three days at the hospital were made better truly due to the fact that I knew Louis was providing the greatest care possible to my father, even up until he was taken back for organ donation. My family is forever grateful for his hard work, service, and compassion. If there is anyone that deserves a DAISY Award, it is Louis.
