May 2025 Honoree
Louise Lyttle, Midwife
Louise provided exemplary care to one of her patients who had very complex needs. The patient was deaf and was unable to read; her partner was Spanish and spoke no English, and they relied heavily on the patient's sister, who spoke English and could sign a little.
Louise ensured she met the needs of everyone, by utilising a BSL interpreter for all of her contacts, extending the length of her appointments to ensure the lady had time to question and understand everything, Louise offered all written information in Spanish so the partner had understanding and made sure plans were in place within the hospital for any admissions.
Louise offered bespoke antenatal education classes to the family and truly went above and beyond to ensure this lady had the best experience possible. Both mum and baby are doing well at home now.
We have recorded a video which showcases the support Louise and her colleague Sam went to for this family.
