My son has been in and out of the PICU since July 2018. He came to Medical City Dallas for one surgery but got infected and went under 5 surgical processes. Meanwhile, I gave birth to a set of twin boys while he was in the hospital. All the staff took great care of him. To take care of my son, be with him, I had to go back to my country (Pakistan), leave my newborns and come back to him so that we can find a way out so he can go home. After discussing this complex situation with doctors and hospital, I left him in PICU and took my newborns back to Pakistan. When I was away from him and he was all alone in this big country, the PICU was his family. Each and every nurse took care of him with all their heart and soul. But there is a nurse that I want to recognize, her name is Lourdes, who took care of him like she would her own son. The way she took care of him is beyond my words. She got him some outfits and cute Mickey Mouse pajamas and she loved him like his mom. I am truly grateful to her and her beautiful actions. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
