Nurse Luly was such a tremendously caring and serving nurse. After my bypass surgery, she made sure I was comfortable at all times. I asked her at some point for a fan so I could have some moving air and it wasn't but a few minutes and she had a fan moving air over me. She asked me frequently where my pain level was and made sure I was getting water as requested. She suggested ice chips, so I tried them. What a great suggestion, and she was very patient in her helpful manner. We talked about various things throughout the night and she was always within a few feet of the bed.
I was moved to the PCDU unit late the second evening. Luly very patiently assisted me into a wheelchair and due to a generator test that evening, the elevators that are normally used to move patients to those rooms were not working. Luly had to push me through a maze of hallways to get to a set of elevators that were in operation and then through many more halls to get me to my new room. Once I was transferred to the bed, she gave me a hug and wished me a pain-free and quick recovery. I realize this may be her job, however, catering to ones' needs while they are incapacitated and getting a fan, for example, are the little things that separate an employee from someone who actually cares.

Thank you, Lourdes, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
