Love Hernandez is kind, compassionate, and provides excellent care to each one of her patients. Love's attention to detail amazes me. She never misses a beat. The fluid movements of her nursing care portrays that this career has chosen her. I know that each patient receives the same great care as the next; the pillows are fluffed, sheets are wrinkle free and neatly drawn. She cares as much about the appearance of the patient and the care environment as she does the critical aspects of nursing. Working in harmony, providing a presence of peace during many unfortunate times, Love is in the ICU providing care and being the kind of nurse that new nurses want to emulate.

Recently, a patient was being cared for by Love. The patient's illness was a mystery and many tests were being ordered to find out why the patient was so sick. The patient was ordered to have a radiology procedure. As soon as the results were available, Love was quick to review the findings and share with the patient's surgeon clarifying information that led to a change in the plan of care for the patient. This information was a turning point, and the patient was taken to the operating room to perform a life-saving procedure. Had Love not reviewed the test results, and shared her knowledge with the surgeon, the successful recovery the patient is making would not be able to be shared with you today.
