LTAC Nurses of Pioneer-Pontiac

On behalf of the leadership team of Pioneer Specialty Hospital, I am proud to nominate the nursing staff of our Pontiac location for The DAISY Team Award for being one-year CLABSI free. The nursing staff of Pioneer Specialty Hospital always go above and beyond for their patients but over the past year they have shown their adaptability, willingness to learn and dedication to patient advocacy. From education and competencies, teaching and learning from others to interdisciplinary rounds and audits; they advocate for their patients to get rid of lines that are not indicated when the patients can't advocate for themselves. They pay attention to detail and change dressings and IV lines when scheduled or needed. They teach each other and lend a helping hand to new nurses and also accept and adapt to new policies and procedures. It takes a TEAM approach to go one year without a central line blood stream infection resulting in zero harm to our patients, and the nurses of Pontiac are prime examples of a team. We are honored to be a part of their team.
