Luanne is a nurse's nurse. She is kind, caring, and compassionate and doesn't stop working until her patient's needs are met. She is dependable and thorough. Luanne maintains a positive demeanor at all times and treats everyone with kindness and respect. In addition, Luanne is a clinical expert in ICU. She makes great catches almost daily as she is always keen on her patient's safety. Luanne's work ethic is exemplary. She takes advantage of every moment of her time and dedicates it to others. Luanne takes that extra step in ensuring her patients receive the highest quality of care. Recently Luanne cared for a patient that had a Pulmonary Emboli and was on a Heparin gtt. Luanne was diligent on following the CBC and coagulation results. She was very astute and realized that the patient's platelet count was dropping quickly. She questioned the practitioners and was suspicious that the patient had Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT). Luanne was persistent with her gut feeling and she was exactly right! We are very fortunate she is on our team and caring for our patients. In addition, in the same week, Luanne found a newly admitted Hemorrhagic Stroke patient with orders for Heparin administration that was inadvertently kept on the patient's medication administration profile. Luanne recognized the issue and quickly contacted the physician and had the Heparin discontinued, saving the patient from potential further complications. I am grateful and proud she is on our team.
