Even after going back home, which is about 220 km away from Tawam Hospital, we still feel cared for by the hospital and that its services are accessible to us no matter how far away we are. This is because Lubna kept her word when she said we could ask her any questions, and she would get back to us. And this is exactly what she has done.
My nurse, Lubna Saleh, is so special because of how caring, efficient, professional, and helpful she has been since I met her when I went to Tawam Hospital after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
From the onset, in the most friendly way, she introduced herself as the nurse who would guide me through my cancer treatment. On that day, I went through several procedures, and she guided me through each one. Whenever there was a slight delay, Lubna explained and reassured me that I would be attended to in good time. She was also respectful and very clear when she gave my escort (my husband) directions on where to take the biopsy blocks that we had brought with us.
On subsequent visits to Tawam Hospital (Breast Care Center), Lubna greeted us happily and sincerely enquired about my well-being and continued serving us with high professionalism.
My most recent visit to Tawam Hospital was for my lumpectomy, and the surgery was very successful. After the surgery, Lubna carefully explained to my husband and me what to expect over the days ahead, and she encouraged me not to hesitate to ask any question, reassuring me that she would respond as soon as she was able to. Additionally, she gave my escort very clear directions on how and when to remove the one type of bandage that needed to be removed. She further explained to him how to handle, measure, and record the fluid that was being drained out after my surgery. She advised him to keep monitoring the amount being drained out until it was 20cc or below for two consecutive days and that this would mean that I was ready to visit the hospital for the drainage to be removed. This comprehensive information and instructions that Lubna gave us after surgery was very reassuring. It also made us feel at ease about the process of recovering after surgery.

Whenever I messaged her with any questions, she responded with clarity and to my satisfaction.
Overall, Lubna has given me a sense of safety, care and compassion, and she is making this journey with cancer for me more bearable. Thank you, Lubna! We truly appreciate your empathy.
