Lucas Martin spent nearly 4 hours brushing my mother’s hair. She has been in a bed for over a month and also on bipap, so her knots were pretty horrible.
My mother has been in Forrest General since the beginning of November 2021. In that time, she has come across many nurses, doctors, and staff. But just recently she had the absolute pleasure of being the patient of Lucas Martin in the ICU. Lucas was so incredibly great with not only my mother but her family as well. It was a very scary situation for my siblings and I and Lucas had the special gift to put us all at ease. Answering every question, addressing every concern, and helping us to understand exactly what was going on. He was not only compassionate but considerate. He calmed us and by doing that helped us calm our mother. But what really pushed Lucas over the top would be his next shift. Lucas Martin spent nearly 4 hours brushing my mother’s hair. She has been in a bed for over a month and also on bipap, so her knots were pretty horrible. We had been trying to do what we could while we visited but Lucas went above and beyond his job description. My mother doesn’t remember much from her day to day, but she surely remembers him. We are all so incredibly grateful for having Lucas as our mother’s nurse (even for a short period of time). He really embodies what it means and takes to be the best!!!
