Lucelly was born to be a nurse. She is helpful, supportive, caring, and someone who always goes above and beyond. Lucelly makes everyone feel welcome on the unit, from fellow nurses to medical residents and support staff such as food servers, therapists, and environmental services. Lucelly is an endearing coworker and Charge. Any day that she is in, the unit is going to have a good day! She is the first one to lend a helping hand or recognize a special day to celebrate for a peer and even goes the extra mile to make working holidays festive and celebratory.
One example of Lucelly going above and beyond for a patient involved a patient who stayed on the unit for over 9 months. Finding placement in the community was an enormous issue and very frustrating to all involved, particularly for the patient who wanted to be discharged home but was unsafe to do so. Lucelly went out of her way to make the patient comfortable with many gestures of kindness like bringing in treats from home and knitting a scarf which was proudly worn by the patient around the unit. A few months after being discharged, the patient passed away and was laid to rest wearing the scarf that meant so much and was so special from that prolonged stay. Lucelly leads by example and always makes her patients and their families feel cared for. Her calm and happy attitude lends a positive vibe to the entire unit.
