When my daughter struggled with contractions Lucinda put her forehead on my daughter's forehead and talked her through it.
I am a nurse in Pediatrics for almost 16 years. My daughter came into Broward General to deliver her baby- a V-bac. Because of a personal horrible experience with a V-bac, I was beyond terrified. Lucinda listened to my concerns and truly made me feel more confident about this delivery. She was very hands-on and explained everything in detail to my daughter. Her goal was to have as natural a delivery as possible even with an epidural and Pitocin. When my daughter struggled with contractions Lucinda put her forehead on my daughter's forehead and talked her through it. She switched my daughter's position constantly and pumped up a peanut ball because my daughter was too short to reach the leg rests. Everything she did was done in a calm manner with a quiet soothing voice. She interacted with my son-in-law and me and kept us all calm. During the actual delivery, a new nurse in the internship program (whom we know personally) came in to help out. Lucinda very quietly and very calmly educated and guided the new nurse. I was so impressed with her expertise her knowledge and her genuine caring personality. There was nothing pretentious about her behavior- it was very evident that helping mothers out during labor and delivery is her passion. The image of her leaning close to my daughter and gently guiding her through the pain is one I will never forget. She is by far the best nurse I have ever encountered.
