Our confidence in Lucy allowed my wife and me to eat a meal and take a nap, knowing she was doing everything possible to keep C safe and comfortable.
My wife gave birth to our beautiful son, C. He was quickly transported to Seattle Children's Hospital, and after a week in the CICU, he had open-heart surgery. As you can imagine, my wife and I barely slept, ate, or left C's side over the course of our stay. The day of surgery was emotionally and physically taxing. We waited hours for the all clear to come back to C's room in the CICU.

When surgery was over, we went back to the room to see C. My wife had been crying all morning and afternoon, praying C would be safe and taken care of. When we walked into the room and saw Lucy, it felt like God had answered our prayers. Lucy was working diligently on C's bedside. She expertly connected what seemed like hundreds of tubes and cords with careful precision, while simultaneously explaining to us exactly what she was doing. She walked us through the entire process as if she had done it thousands of times before. She even moved C to a warming bed, cords attached, without missing a beat. She calmly and confidently answered every question. Her compassion and care for my entire family should not go unnoticed.

In my wife’s words, “Lucy is exactly the person I needed today. Without her, I wouldn’t be able to sleep or leave C for a second.” Our confidence in Lucy allowed my wife and me to eat a meal and take a nap, knowing she was doing everything possible to keep C safe and comfortable.
