Lucy Jones

I want to thank Lucy, as she was the biggest support during my multiple admissions to Welford, formerly Langley ward. She’s gone above and beyond to help me trust other nursing staff and is one of the two nurses who have helped me so much during this admission; I am now mentally in the best place I've been since I was 11. I’m 31!

She was supportive during a time I had to make a very difficult disclosure of abuse and supported me through the process of accepting and understanding what was going on and how that had impacted my anorexia. She was gentle when needed and strict when I needed it to be; she listened and helped coordinate the care I would receive whilst being an inpatient. This helped me tremendously, as being autistic and on a PEG J tube, I need quite complex care,

She arranged meetings prior to me being admitted so I was aware what the plan would be and, quite frankly, single-handedly got me back into hospital at a time when I had to change consultants and was against an admission. This would have killed me otherwise, as the anorexia was too strong. I was accepting no feed at all and walking and exercising excessively. She mentally helped me prepare for the admission that would ultimately save me.
