Lucy Tejada Orellana is one exceptional nurse. She currently is working as the vascular nurse coordinator. She ensures the education and safe placement of access devices for the dialysis patients.
She is competent, caring and thorough with all her patients. Her exceptional nursing skills were first developed in the med-surg area and while she was a clinical coordinator.
Lucy works mainly in the WSC campus, but during one recent visit to the Linden dialysis center a patient coded in this outpatient setting. Her quick, decisive judgment and expert clinical skills went into action. Lucy defibrillated the patient, saving her life. The patient continues to be treated on an outpatient basis and always thanks Lucy for saving her life and for being in the right place at the right time on that day.
The patient wants something special done for Lucy and the DAISY Award is that well deserved recognition.
