Lue is the assistant manager of the intensive care unit and stepdown. He is a perfect example of the exceptional Advocate Trinity Hospital nurse. He is always performing at his best. Lue knows no limits when it comes to serving the people around him. One distinct situation, in particular, was when Lue took it upon himself to be a patient's advocate. There was a patient in the ICU who was diagnosed with cerebral death after confirmation from EEG and two failed Apnea tests. The patient's family members were in denial due to the death of the patient's husband two days prior, despite numerous conversations with physicians, spiritual care, and ethics. One morning, Lue volunteered to take care of the patient to try and reason with the family. He provided the family compassionate care, where he reiterated all the information that was previously disseminated to them. Lue was the patient's advocate because he gave the family members a thorough explanation of what their loved one might be going through, and was able to help them understand. After the acceptance of letting go, Lue then patiently explained the process of terminating life support, what to expect, and who was going to be present, allowing the family to be in control of the situation.
