I have been here at First Hill for almost a month now. Which means I've had quite a few different nurses. Luella is one of the most compassionate, thoughtful & kind nurses I've ever had. Most recently, I'm struggling with staying on top of my wound care as when it's time to change bandages/wraps I get a lot of anxiety and never want to do it. Today I needed my bandages changed again and I basically acted like a child & told Luella I didn't want to. She was so kind & expressed genuine empathy and walked me through the process, so I wasn't scared & she changed my bandages with ease. Not only does she genuinely care that I got my wound cleaned & properly bandaged, she cares for me and my experience. Luella also has taken the time to get to know me, why I'm here and how she can best help me. That kind of care means so much. I've recently turned a bit of a corner (for the better) and hope to go home soon and I credit Luella A LOT with the care and effort needed from a care team in helping me turn that corner. Luella, thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything. You have been a true Godsend and we are so grateful for you. XX
