I had a recent unexpected surgery and was hospitalized on 7 south for several nights. Being a provider and being on this side of needing care was very overwhelming. Luis took care of me the first 2 nights following my surgery, and I can not say enough about his clinical skills, kindness, and care. It was evident from the moment he walked in my room that he was a very experienced nurse. The first night after arriving from the OR, Luis spent the first couple of hours making sure I was clinically stable and had everything I needed to feel as comfortable as I could in this situation. He sat and talked with me to get my "story", made sure my pain was well controlled and that I got as much rest as possible. The second night was probably the worst night I had in the hospital. I was in a lot of pain and very anxious. Luis made sure he did everything he could to get my pain under control and help me relax, including sitting with me and making me hot tea. He is an amazing nurse, not only clinically, but was the most compassionate nurse I encountered during my hospitalization. I don't know how I would have gotten through that night without him!
