In the quiet intensity of a hospital shift, the smallest moment can determine a life’s outcome.  Luis brought his patient to CT for a scan.  His vigilance turned a potential crisis into a coordinated response that preserved life.  When the patient began to show a decline in respiratory status, this nurse didn’t hesitate.  

With a drop in oxygen saturation and a narrow window of time to intervene, his training and attention to detail allowed him to recognize the patient needed help immediately. 

Acting with clear, decisive judgment, he initiated a code.  In a moment, the team responded.  While stabilizing the patient, the decision was made to intubate the patient, restoring oxygen delivery and stability.  

Once the airway was secured and the patient was stabilized, the team assisted with a safe transfer back to the ICU.   Luis’ quick recognition, calm action, and commitment to teamwork exemplify the best of patient care.
