She contacted his spouse repeatedly to request help and even reached out to Adult Protective Services when she realized his needs were not being met.
I am writing to extend my deepest gratitude and recognition to Ms.Luisa Rojas, the home health nurse who cared for my father. Her dedication, compassion, and persistence quite literally safeguarded his life when he was at his most vulnerable. My father had been diagnosed with dementia, rheumatoid arthritis, and other medical issues. He frequently forgot his medications, his medical appointments, or even how to get to those appointments. Despite these immense challenges, Luisa consistently went above and beyond her duties to ensure his safety and well-being. Luisa not only set alarms and reminders for him, but also personally called to remind him to take his medications. She contacted his spouse repeatedly to request help and even reached out to Adult Protective Services when she realized his needs were not being met. Her persistence ensured that my father did not fall through the cracks.
One day, when my sister and I picked him up, he was malnourished, weighing only 120 pounds, and barely able to walk. It was clear that Luisa had done everything she could to help him during that time. She worked tirelessly to ensure he was prepared for travel while providing him with care, attention, and dignity. She was the one who reached out to our family when she realized his situation was critical, and because of her, we were able to intervene and bring him the support he desperately needed.
Luisa embodies the very best of nursing: compassion, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to her patients. Her actions demonstrate extraordinary integrity and love for her profession. I firmly believe her work deserves formal recognition. We will forever be grateful to her for ensuring he was safe and cared for during such a vulnerable time in his life.
