Luisa always asked if she could do or get anything for me (she would bring me ice even though that wasn’t her job to do).
I just wanted to take a few minutes of your time to let you know how fortunate you are to have 7a-7p Nurse Luisa on your staff. Let me tell you a bit about her. In all my 30 years relationship with P, we have encountered a lot of medical staff, and especially nurses. Along the way, for the most part, they’ve all been great until I met Luisa; she is beyond exceptional, beyond any words I could say to describe her; but I’ll try to give you a few.
The first word would be comforting. When you’re in a situation of your loved one in the process of dying that’s the one thing that you need a lot of, and Luisa certainly set the bar high for others. I have never felt such genuine care from the heart without any hesitation human kindness in my life.
Next, I would call her caring because she truly cares about her patients and their loved one. It comes from her heart and is evident in all that she says and does. She talked to P with such kindness in her every word. Even though he is basically in a coma (from the meds), she tells him everything that she’s doing before and during. It’s so sweet how she calls him “Boo”. I think he likes it, he’s a big baby at heart. Luisa cares for the comfort of her patients and family. Every time she came in to give meds, she would swab his mouth out good and put moisture gel on his lips to keep them from being dry or cracked.
Luisa always asked if she could do or get anything for me (she would bring me ice even though that wasn’t her job to do). I hope this will help you to appreciate the kind gem that you have in Luisa as an employee. You’re very fortunate to have hired a nurse of her caliber. Please let her know just how special she is and how good she was to P and me. I hope you and your patients will have many more years to experience the kindness, love, and compassion that Luisa has to offer.
