Luiza is a proud nurse of MICU. She is a nurse with 16 years of experience in ICU. She loves to take care of people. She always states that nursing fulfills her ambition to serve the needy. She is very knowledgeable and compassionate and delivers high-quality nursing care with compassion and integrity. She is always proactive with excellent critical thinking skills. Patients always feel and verbalize that they are safe in her hands. She is one of the extraordinary nurses in my unit. She has proved it many a times. She precepts new nurses. She always makes sure she is updated with the current practice. She is one of our resources.

I would like to share an incident where she went beyond for the patient. One of our patients was for organ donation. The team was literally ready to take the patient to the OR. She did her initial assessment and realized and came forward to a decision that the patient didn't fit organ donation criteria at all. It was a challenging situation for her. Though the patient's medical condition was worsening before, she noticed that there was a great improvement in the mental status of the patient. She continued to do reassessments on sedation vacation. The patient started to wake up and become more alert and oriented. Unfortunately, she didn't have any family members. She informed the critical care team and legacy team that she won't send the patient for organ donation. She stood strong and spoke up for the patient. On the following day, we could extubate her and downgrade her to PCU. Luiza's timely actions saved the patient. I am so proud to work with her.
