During the patient's prior visit to our hospital, Luke, a nurse on the third floor, was remarkable. One evening when this 66 year old woman was weeping because of facing a very scary procedure, Luke, a 25 year old nurse, listened, was empathetic, was encouraging, and greatly cheered her up. He spent a lot of time that evening with her to help her get through her anxiety. She is very grateful for him and he is proof that even a young person can encourage an older person.
