As a new patient at the Hematology / Oncology clinic, I feel like everything is new to me. At my first referral visit with my oncologist my wife and I were introduced to VA Oncology Nurse Manager Lukiah Mulumba to help me figure out my VA health benefits. She walked us through the process of how and what to do using VA benefits on top of my Military Retiree Tricare and Medicare coverage. As sick as I am, I was guided through, it was well-explained, and I was reminded about my VA status. She has helped me make appointments at the different clinics that I needed to visit and follows up always if the referrals are ongoing. She always insists “don’t hesitate to call or message” whenever I need help from her. Her positive approach to helping me is very assuring especially with the condition I am in. Lukiah makes my life easier in going through my chemotherapy knowing that the treatments are well covered with my VA benefits and eligibility. On behalf of me and my wife, we thank you!
