My mom had a major stroke in October. We were on our 3rd trip to the hospital since then. I had been trying very hard to talk her into getting to the hospital. My mom does not talk or swallow since her stroke. The EMTs who brought her by ambulance tried to start an IV numerous times and my mom's blood pressure dropped really low. When Luz saw her, she came into the cubicle and greeted my mom as if she were an old friend; calming her, talking and asking questions. My mom is 92 and has fragile veins. She found a vein the 1st time; she said God guided her. That 1st time hasn't happened in a long time. She told my mom that her mom was in the Philippines and that she was going to treat Mom like she were her own mom, and she did. She answered all my many questions and treated me like a friend. She checked on us very often and made us feel like we were her only patients even though the ER was overflowing. A time that was difficult was made much easier by this very dear lady.
