My 18-year-old daughter was admitted to ICU with diabetic ketoacidosis and was very ill and scared. Lyda was very calm and reassuring with her during the admission process. My daughter was in a lot of pain and I had left the room for a minute to use the restroom. When I returned, Lyda was comforting my daughter just as I had been holding her and letting her know she would be ok. She reassured her that they were going to take good care of her and that I could stay with her. I cannot express the gratitude I felt knowing that such a kind caring person was with my daughter and took the time to really connect and console her in my absence. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

On 2 separate occasions, as I was monitoring the tele-room I noticed Lyda caring for her patients. On one occasion she spent hours combing out the numerous tangles in her female patient's hair. She would leave to help her co-workers when needed, but then came back and meticulously combed through this lady's hair until all the tangles were out and her hair was smooth and clean. The second time I noted Lyda, with help from a co-worker, giving a patient bath. They took their time and gently and carefully washed him from head to toe, Lyda also took the time to lotion, massage, and perform passive range of motion on the patient's arms and legs. After finishing the bath, and carefully positioning the patient comfortably in the bed, I noticed Lyda gently stroke the patient's brow. I don't know if she said anything to him, but I am confident they were kind and comforting words if she did. I believe Lyda showed true concern in caring for these patients, as I am sure she always does, and believe she truly is a DAISY Nurse.
