Lydia Abraham, BSN, RN

Lydia is an extraordinary nurse and an incredible human being. I was in labor for three days, and Lydia cared for me with compassion, attentiveness, and unwavering support.

On my final day, when I entered active labor, she wasn’t even assigned to me, but when I told her how much I would miss her, she switched assignments so she could stay by my side. That alone shows the kind of nurse she is.

My labor was long and frightening at times, but Lydia made every moment feel calmer. She explained everything happening with my body, held my hand through contractions, applied counter-pressure to my back, kept me hydrated, and even found ways to make me laugh.

She didn’t just care for me; she supported my husband as well, reassuring him, involving him, and helping him feel confident during an overwhelming experience.

When her shift ended, she made sure I was handed off to the best nurse on the floor. Later that night, I needed an urgent C-section, and the next morning, one of the first people to visit me was Lydia. She came simply because she cared.

Lydia made a lasting impact on both me and my husband. We will always remember her for the exceptional care, kindness, and humanity she showed us. She is everything the DAISY Award represents.

She deserves all the awards and all of the most wonderful things in life; she is a true blessing!
