My story starts with two very ingrown toenails that I tried to remove myself. I did not have an appointment at the clinic, so I proceeded to cut them myself. In the process, I cut my self and caused tremendous bleeding and pain. I went to the clinic as a walk-in and that was when I encountered Ms. Flores.
As Ms. Flores prepared me to see the P.A., she told me that next time I was in pain that I should just come in as a walk-in and that she would take care of me. She and the P.A. took care of me, relieving my pain. Her extraordinary care made me feel special and cared for. This incident reminiscent of my time in Vietnam when I was wounded, and the nurses and health personnel put their personal safety aside to tend to me.
As a Veteran I feel blessed to have people at the VA that have a positive attitude. It made me feel valued when Ms. Flores went out of her way to ensure I got the care I needed, but above all she made me feel supported by the VA. I'd like to recognize Ms. Flores as an extraordinary nurse.
