Lydia is an overall amazing person and the perfect example of what a nurse is. She is kind, compassionate, understanding, gentle, smart, and overall someone I would trust with my life. Watching her at the bedside has been an amazing experience because she exemplifies everything I want to become in my nursing career. Seeing her interact with patients is very calming, as she always knows what to say and does a great job asking her patients for consent before she actually does an assessment or intervention. Not only is she an amazing nurse, but she is the perfect teacher. I could not have asked for a better nurse to guide me through my capstone experience. She was kind and welcoming towards me, but she was also very patient and sought out numerous learning opportunities for me. She went above and beyond to make sure my capstone experience was the ultimate best, and I gained so much insight into how I want to live out my nursing career. She not only cared about my learning experience and doing her job as a nurse, but she cared about me as a person. I think that is what sets her apart from other nurses. She is not there to do a job, she is there to be an advocate and support person to her patients. She is the utmost example of a nurse, teacher, and friend. I would want her to care for me and my family if I had the choice.
