Lydia Serrano, RN, BSN

The family of a specific COVID patient had been [intubated] for weeks. The family would congregate outside of the hospital every night to gather, be close to him, and say a few prayers. Lydia has always gone above and beyond to ensure that this patient was bathed, cleaned up, and looking his best each night I saw her take care of him. She ensured that each night that the patient was able to have a Zoom call despite how busy she might have been for that shift. I watched her make sure that the patient was taken care of not only physically but also emotionally. She is one of the most empathetic and genuine nurses I have had the honor to work side by side [with]. Lydia goes above and beyond in every situation with her patients not only in this example. She has stood out as a nurse that went above and beyond on a consistent basis. I believe that's just who she is as a person and not only because she is at work.
