I wish to acknowledge the outstanding clinical care provided by Lynda in caring for one of our postoperative patients

One day, while Lynda was performing PACU care, she received a call from a patient who had been discharged from the ward earlier in the day.  The patient indicated he had a pain catheter placed to control his pain post knee replacement, but the pain pump was alarming and stopped administrating the local anesthetic.  After a discussion with the patient, Lynda realized the patient's pain pump had been erroneously programmed by the ward nurse prior to discharge and needed to be reprogrammed in order to work again.

Lynda's compassion and caring laced her patient's well-being and pain control were placed ahead of her own needs. She made a personal visit on her own time, at midnight, visiting the patient at the SNF reprogramming the pump in order to resume her port of pain control regimen.

I wish to recognize Lynda Szumski for the exceptional care of this patient in need.
