Lynell was working in our walk-in clinic when she heard a patient yelling in the lobby. She went to the lobby and found a patient visibly upset after being at her primary care provider's office. To better understand the situation, the nominee guided the patient away from the check-in desk and took the time to sit with the patient. Through empathetic listening, Lynell provided the patient with a safe and non-judgmental space to express her perceptions, frustrations, and needs. She acted as an advocate for this patient, identifying needs based on the whole person, and collaborated with social work and her primary care team. to ensure this patient’s needs were acknowledged. Her dedication to our values is exemplified in each of her interactions, especially this specific patient encounter, showing this patient compassion, preserving her dignity, and going above and beyond to ensure this patient received excellent care.
