Lynette C Robinson, RN
Lynette is incredibly deserving of a DAISY Award.
She has worked in the NCCC for over 20 years and has made a lasting impact on countless patients, families, and staff members during that time.
Lynette consistently takes primary patients and advocates for them wholeheartedly. She is present and engaged during bedside rounds, ensuring that both her concerns and the parents’ concerns are heard by the medical team. She is the kind of nurse who notices the small details that can make a big difference in a patient's care.
Most recently, Lynette cared for a primary patient with Trisomy 18 and a very poor prognosis. Even in such a heartbreaking situation, Lynette remained committed to making sure the patient was as comfortable as possible. She advocated for pain medication and comfort-focused care, and she was able to recognize subtle changes in the patient's condition. She promptly communicated those changes to the team and continued to advocate for what the patient needed.
Her compassion, clinical judgment, and dedication were evident in every part of her care.
In addition to being an exceptional bedside nurse, Lynette also serves as a charge nurse in the NCCC. She is excellent in this role and is able to manage a unit with more than 80 patients, often while handling multiple admissions.
There have been shifts where she has managed as many as 10 admissions, all while collaborating with other units to ensure safe staffing and safe patient care. Her calm leadership and ability to support the entire unit are truly impressive.
Lynette also has a gift for teaching. She is always willing to guide newer nurses and residents, especially when attending deliveries.
On one occasion, she was called to a delivery for a newborn who needed supplemental oxygen. She noticed that the baby was receiving 21% blow-by oxygen and gently educated the nurse that the oxygen concentration needed to be increased when providing blow-by support. The nurse was very appreciative of Lynette's kind and supportive approach to teaching.
Lynette represents everything the DAISY Award stands for. She is compassionate, skilled, dependable, and deeply committed to her patients, families, and coworkers.
Her advocacy, leadership, and willingness to teach others make her an invaluable part of the NCCC team.
