Our unit received a sick patient from the ER at 1800. We soon discovered we had no IV access and called for a PICC nurse to come to place a Powerglide IV. Lynn was on her way home for the evening but came up to help anyway. The patient was combative and restless, and it took 4 nurses to assist, but she managed to get the IV in! A half-hour later, we realized the IV wasn't working. Lynn came back again and got the IV functioning. If not for her patience and skills, we may have not had a good outcome. We appreciate all the PICC nurses but this day, Lynn showed all the criteria for the DAISY Award.
