In a moment where I was frightened and disoriented, she made me feel protected, calm, and cared for.
I would like to recognize Lynn for the profound sense of safety, compassion, and humanity she gave me during one of the most terrifying moments of my life. I woke up after being on a ventilator for about two and a half days in a hospital room I didn't recognize. I was confused, scared, intubated, and completely alone.

My family was not there. In that moment, my nurse became my anchor. She sat with me for over 30 minutes while I trialed breathing through the tube, staying right at my side, watching me, encouraging me, and helping me regulate my breathing. She never made me feel rushed or like I was a burden.

Her presence alone made me feel safe. She took the time to bathe me, speaking gently and treating me with dignity when I felt at my most vulnerable and helpless. When it was time for the breathing tube to be removed, she refused to leave my side. Knowing I didn't have family there, she stayed with me until the tube was out, reassuring me and making sure I wasn't alone for a single second.

What stands out most is not just what she did, but how she made me feel. She gave me her time, her patience, and her full attention. In a moment where I was frightened and disoriented, she made me feel protected, calm, and cared for. I truly believe her presence made a difference in my recovery, and I will never forget the comfort she provided when I needed it most. She is everything a DAISY nurse represents, and I am deeply grateful for her compassion.
