Today I had reconstruction surgery on a ligament in my ankle. I was so nervous and scared. I was brought into the Pre-Surgery Unit and upon meeting Lynn, I felt safe. She shared stories to make me laugh and to keep me from thinking about what was about to happen. She went above and beyond to get me comfortable.

The unit was so busy and while helping me, she made sure to also be available for her coworkers to assist when needed. Whenever someone needed something, she knew the exact location! When talking to her coworkers, she showed the utmost respect and gave so much encouragement when they completed tasks. She also recognized them for their outstanding achievements so everyone could hear her praise. The atmosphere she created in the room was so comforting and safe feeling. You could tell she was a great leader and coworker, always helping others even while she may be busy and things were chaotic.

Her coworkers also treated her with respect and jovial smiles and to me, that shows her friendliness and contagious smile were not just for the patient's eyes. When I spoke about her to anyone following my surgery, every single one of them spoke with such high regard and loving, warm words. She was the best nurse I've ever had! Her caring and happy personality shine and she makes everyone around her share that same shine.
