I am nominating Lyza Bandong for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership, dedication, and innovative initiatives enhancing patient care and staff engagement. Lyza has promoted family engagement, leading the “Family Engagement in Patient Care” initiative that positively impacted patient well-being, communication, and satisfaction. This evidenced-based project aligns with our core values and was presented at Nursing Research Day and submitted to the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

Under Lyza’s leadership, HCAHPS scores significantly improved, reflecting her strategic communication strategies and commitment to patient-centered care. Notably, she achieved the highest Nurse Manager Checks on You scores (93.2%) at Mount Sinai Hospital, demonstrating her consistent care checks and positive leadership. Lyza’s creative approach includes discharge swag bags and personalized thank-you cards, enhancing the patient experience and encouraging feedback. Her initiatives have increased patient engagement in surveys, providing valuable insights. Additionally, Lyza instituted a successful reward and recognition program, fostering a culture of appreciation among the team.
