We are extremely blessed to have a nurse like Macey.
M's labor was progressing normally till midnight. After midnight, she wasn't able to bear the pain, so an epidural was given around 2:30 a.m., and then we thought things were under control. The situation started to get worse after that, and dilation didn't happen until morning when Macey arrived for duty around 7 am. She was really aware of the situation and stepped immediately into our situation, assisting us to turn things back to progressive mode. There was another huddle happening due to pain inducer; M and baby didn't respond well, so we were totally out of control. Pulse was high for both mom and baby. Huge fluctuations and the baby's heart rate went flat. We thought that normal vaginal delivery was not possible anymore. She listened to our concern that M was not comfortable in that position and changed into a squat position. M was responding well, and Macey brought a peanut ball, which had helped a bit in the induction of labor. She also agreed to reduce the epidural for some time so that she could feel the contractions and also got her some fluids to improve the situation. Suddenly, within one hour, everything was under control and normal. We saw a hope of recovery to normal delivery, and she followed. Macey's earlier suggestion of a pain inducer, which showed the actual result later. Dilation was improving and epidural was given as needed. Delivery was back on the right path. She was extremely happy that, finally, we could progress to normal vaginal delivery. By the end of the shift, she handed it to the next nurse, and then within 1 or 3 hours, labor was complete, and we had our little baby girl come out to see this beautiful world. We are extremely blessed to have a nurse like Macey. Thank you to every nurse and staff in Southwest Hospital. Your commitment and dedication are immense to a family like us. Thank you, Macey, for listening to us and providing insight to us!!!
