Macey made a point of talking to each family member and allowing them to ask questions and ensured understanding.
My Mother in Law has been on B3. We have had several nurses in our time here but the family would really like to acknowledge one nurse, in particular, Macey. As an RN and charge nurse myself, I recognize the makings of an exceptional nurse. Macey has gone above and beyond on numerous occasions to provide exceptional care to my MIL. She has exemplified the standard of care LRH and the nursing profession standards as a whole. As a new nurse, she exudes confidence and provided a sense of security that my family needed at a time of uncertainty. She sought advice from her supervisors and consulted physicians to recommend options that would improve her care.
Knowing my MIL would have a hard time with having a Foley placed due to anatomy issues, she went straight to her superiors for help in placing the Foley. (Urology had to be consulted it was so difficult). When she was having difficulty controlling her bowel, she stayed by her bedside to help get her changed immediately to prevent further skin breakdown. (10 BM in 60 min time frame).
Macey made a point of talking to each family member and allowing them to ask questions and ensured understanding. My husband and I had a hard time leaving our MIL knowing how unstable she was but when Macey was there my husband and I were able to feel secure enough to go home and get some rest knowing she was in Macey's hands. That alone is was more than we could have asked for.
Although these are normal everyday nursing tasks, it was done with compassion and foresight to produce exceptional patient care. Macey is an outstanding nurse and should be acknowledged. She will have a long a successful career and with no doubt help save hundreds of lives.
