Her attitude towards us was respectful, and for being a "young" nurse, she was confident in her skills and very professional.
My husband was hospitalized at Mercy Hospital with acute sepsis with shock. He had to undergo emergency surgery that evening and was in critical condition for three days. What my family and I experienced over the next several days was nothing short of a miracle. We are a people of great faith in Jesus but also recognize when He uses medical care to achieve His will. As I watched a critical care team of both medical and nursing personnel working to save my husband's life, I was both a bit frightened and comforted. What I witnessed was a "dance" of efficiency, grace, and determination that I have never seen before. The short end to that story is that by God's grace and mercy and that team's efforts, my husband lives today. There were so many people that did the impossible, but I know this platform is reserved for the nursing staff. So, I want to point out a few nurses that demonstrated ALL the Mercy standards. In the ICU, Macey was "T's" nurse who received us one afternoon and cared for "T" during the dayshift the next day. She was able to establish a connection with "T" and me almost immediately, which supported us emotionally. She explained everything in a way that we understood what was happening and what was going to happen. Her attitude towards us was respectful, and for being a "young" nurse, she was confident in her skills and very professional. She proctored a student nurse and was careful to allow this nurse to practice her skills without jeopardizing care to "T." We are so grateful for Macey and the care she provided to "T." We are so thankful for her and others that provided exceptional care and lived out the Mercy standards.
